What is Magnetorecption?
Several studies using satellite images have noted that when grazing or resting, herds of cattle and deer tend to align their bodies in a consistent north-south direction, regardless of wind or sunlight conditions.
This alignment suggests they may be using the Earth’s magnetic field as a compass to orient themselves in their surroundings. This ability, known as magnetoreception, is not one of the traditional five senses and is considered a “sixth sense” by some researchers in this field
